Position: Claims Manager
Location: Hutchinson, KS
The Claims Manager will work directly with existing agency clients and potential new clients with claims management and administration. There will be a special emphasis on workers compensation insurance. The Claims Manager is expected to improve and expedite the claims process by serving as a conduit and liaison between agency clients and insurance carriers.
The Claims Manager will work diligently to ensure agency clients understand the claims process. They will also actively manage open claims with agency clients and insurance carriers to ensure nothing falls through the cracks and claims move along smoothly. Client-wise the Claims Manger will generally be assigned to accounts with large claims exposure.
To be successful the Claims Manager must be capable of managing multiple open claims, work effectively with 10-12 different insurance carriers and support sales and operational staff at KFSA. The key is relationship development, whether it’s with agency clients, insurance carriers or internally among KFSA staff. This position will participate in new business and account retention strategies and is encouraged to share ideas and their creativity.
To bullet point the major responsibilities they are:
Meet with agency clients on a scheduled periodic basis.
Maintain consistent communication with agency clients.
Meet with insurance carriers to discuss open claims and follow up to get claims resolved efficiently.
Support agency personnel with data when requested.
Develop relationships with key carrier claims personnel.
Create reports from individual carriers.
Update KFSA on loss trends and loss analysis.
Educate current and new employees on understanding the claims process.
This position reports directly to the Vice-President of Sales at KFSA.
What You’ll Need to Do This Job:
A bachelor’s degree in a related field, 3-5 years of insurance claims experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Appropriate insurance licenses including P&C.
Manages themselves exceptionally well; knows the job, isn’t afraid to ask questions and get things done.
Become a “go-to” person in terms of insurance lines and coverage knowledge in the P&C realm.
Quick learner with the ability to adapt.
Thoughtful, analytical, strategic, and resourceful in job performance.
The ability to create and maintain strong client and carrier relationships.
The ability to fulfill the role as a trusted advisor to clients.
Excellent public speaking skills and presence.
Ability to use and understanding technology including a computer, smart phone, tablet and various software programs and apps.
A valid driver’s license.
The ability to travel 25% of the time, with day and overnight travel.
This position generally works in an office environment but is occasionally exposed to outdoor conditions or
other locations. Long periods of sitting, standing and computer work are required. The ability to speak,
hear, and type is also required. You will regularly lift 20 pounds or less.
This position will also be required to perform other duties as assigned by management.
